Northwestern University Library is presenting a public exhibition of the Garry Marshall Collection, showcasing items from the career of the notable TV and film writer, director, and producer. This collection provides an opportunity to explore the work of Marshall, a Northwestern alumnus who passed away in 2016.
Garry Marshall is renowned for creating popular sitcoms such as "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley," and "Mork & Mindy," along with directing films like "Pretty Woman" and "The Princess Diaries." His influence on entertainment continues to resonate globally.
The exhibition includes scripts, props, costumes, correspondences, and memorabilia from his extensive career. A public reception will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 from 3 to 5 p.m., attended by members of Marshall's family. They will discuss his legacy in television and film as well as their donation to Northwestern.
The exhibition is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Northwestern University Library located at 1970 Campus Drive in Evanston. The exhibit opens on Monday, Nov. 3 and runs through the end of the fall academic quarter.
