Lewis College of Science and Letters has announced the addition of four new faculty members for the 2024-25 academic year. These educators are set to contribute significantly to their departments and areas of research.
The new faculty includes Clarissa Busch, who joins as an Associate Professor of Humanities. She holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, with her work focusing on environmental and climate ethics, as well as the philosophy of social science and ethics concerning artificial intelligence and data science. "I wanted to work at a university and in a department that values interdisciplinary research and collaboration," Busch stated regarding her decision to join Illinois Tech.
Arryn Guy returns to her alma mater as an Assistant Professor of Psychology after spending over four years at Brown University's School of Public Health. Her research involves community-based participatory studies with queer and trans communities, aiming to address psychological impacts from stigma, support addiction recovery, improve access to gender-affirmative care, and reduce HIV health inequities. Guy expressed her enthusiasm by saying, "I’m so happy to be back at my alma mater."
Goni Halevi is welcomed as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Physics after completing a fellowship at Northwestern University's Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics. Her expertise lies in high-energy astrophysics, black hole formation, among other areas. Halevi commented on her role by stating, "I love nurturing an interest in astrophysics and mentoring students with diverse backgrounds."
