Dr. Robert M. Califf, a prominent figure in academic medicine and clinical research, will speak at the upcoming Chair Chats event on October 28 at the Retzky College of Pharmacy Auditorium in Chicago. The session is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with a complimentary reception following from 3:15 to 4 p.m.
Califf is known for his leadership roles at Duke University, where he served as vice chancellor and founded the Duke Clinical Research Institute. His career has focused on promoting equitable access to health care and increasing diversity in clinical trials. These efforts have contributed to changes in national policy and encouraged greater attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the medical field.
A member of the National Academy of Medicine, Califf has authored more than 1,200 peer-reviewed publications and continues his work as an instructor at Duke University.
“We are privileged to welcome Dr. Califf to Chair Chats, where he’ll share his insights and experiences on fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment in health care and other sectors,” organizers said.
The Chair Chats series is designed to bring recognized leaders and visionaries to the University Illinois of Chicago community for discussions about building an equitable future. The series aims to connect participants with educational, research, and clinical expertise aligned with UIC’s mission.
The event is open to both the UIC community and the public; however, registration is required by Friday, October 24 or until capacity is reached. Walk-up attendees will not be admitted.
