University of Illinois launches new mental health training modules for campus community

Marie Lynn Miranda UIC Chancellor | University Of Illinois At Chicago

The University of Illinois has introduced new Mental Health Training Modules for its faculty, staff, and students. The modules are voluntary and aim to help members of the university community recognize signs of mental health challenges, respond with practical strategies, and connect individuals with resources.

According to the university, these modules are available on a new Mental Health Awareness and Support website. The site also provides links to mental health resources throughout the University of Illinois System and includes information about the annual Mental Health and Wellbeing Symposium, which is scheduled for October 14, 2025.

The initiative is part of the university's ongoing efforts to promote health and well-being among its community members. The university stated: "At the University of Illinois, we are dedicated to fostering the health and well-being of all members of our community, and we understand that mental health is essential to thriving academically, professionally and personally."

By making these training modules accessible, the university seeks to raise awareness and build skills related to mental health support within its system. "By raising awareness and building these skills, we continue to foster a culture of care and support across the University of Illinois System," according to a statement from university leadership.
