Manny Maceda, the former CEO and current chairman of Bain & Company, is set to receive an Honorary Doctor of Management from Illinois Institute of Technology at its 156th Commencement ceremony. The event will take place at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. Maceda has played a significant role in expanding Bain & Company, doubling its size while focusing on leadership, culture, and innovation.
“Illinois Tech gave me the foundations to think systematically, lead responsibly, and never stop learning,” Maceda stated. He expressed his gratitude for the recognition from his alma mater and hopes to inspire future leaders.
Maceda holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Tech and an M.S. in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Since joining Bain in 1989, he has advised global CEOs on strategy and performance improvement. His leadership roles have included chairman of the Asia-Pacific region and global leader of Transformation and Performance Improvement practices.
“Manny Maceda exemplifies the mission of Illinois Tech through his visionary leadership,” said Raj Echambadi, President of Illinois Tech. Under Maceda's guidance as worldwide managing partner and CEO since 2018, Bain has expanded significantly in digital capabilities and strategic transactions.
Rich Klein, dean of Illinois Tech's Stuart School of Business remarked on Maceda’s leadership: “His ability to steer organizations through disruption while investing in people makes him a powerful role model.”
Apart from his work with Bain & Company, Maceda serves on several boards including Stryker Corporation and Ayala Corporation. He is also involved with MIT Sloan's North American Advisory Board.
Illinois Tech Board Chair Michael P. Galvin commented on Maceda’s career achievements: “He has shown how strategic insight and purpose-driven culture can shape industries.”
