Chicago Blackhawks announce centennial celebrations throughout 2025-26 season

Norm Maciver Associate General Manager | Official Website

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced plans to commemorate their 100th anniversary during the 2025-26 season. The celebration will highlight a century of history and the team's commitment to future growth in hockey. Fans can look forward to various gameday and digital experiences that honor legendary alumni, championship teams, and memorable moments throughout the season.

This announcement coincides with the organization's Founding Day, marking 100 years since Chicago was awarded an NHL franchise on May 15, 1926. "Since our inception, the Chicago Blackhawks have been more than just a hockey team – we've been an integral part of Chicago's identity and a driving force in the evolution of the sport," said Danny Wirtz, Chairman & CEO of the Chicago Blackhawks. "This Centennial celebration isn't just about honoring our past achievements but also about recommitting ourselves to innovation, community impact and excellence for the century ahead."

The Centennial celebration will be divided into four chapters after the Home Opener. These chapters will offer signature game nights, bobbleheads, giveaways, rare memorabilia stories, exclusive interviews with iconic figures from each era, and more. The festivities are expected to culminate in Fall 2026 with an event celebrating the club's first game.

"What makes this celebration truly special is how it bridges generations of Blackhawks hockey," added Jaime Faulkner, President of Business Operations for the Blackhawks. "When our young fans see decades-worth of alumni sharing the ice with our current roster on opening night, they'll understand they're part of something much bigger than just today's team – they're part of a legacy that has shaped the sport itself and will continue to do so for generations to come."

A detailed schedule for these events will be released following the NHL’s game schedule release in Summer 2025. Fans who purchase Full Season Ticket Memberships by May 31, 2025, will receive maximum benefits including an exclusive Centennial Jacket.

As part of these celebrations, an official Blackhawks Hall of Fame will be launched to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to its legacy. This program includes a ballot-based voting process with induction ceremonies held at Fifth Third Arena.

Fans can vote for one Modern era player (post-2000) and one Heritage era player (pre-2000) as well as nominate builders like broadcasters or coaches for induction into this prestigious institution. Notably retired numbers such as Glenn Hall (#1), Bobby Hull (#9), Tony Esposito (#35), among others will automatically enter this Hall of Fame.

The inaugural fan vote runs until mid-July at Blackhawks.com/HOF while further updates regarding centennial programs can be found at Blackhawks.com/100.
