UIC prepares for annual research week celebrating innovation

UIC Research Week 2025 is set to take place from April 21 to April 25, showcasing the work of faculty, staff, students, and research trainees at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). The week-long event will feature a variety of activities aimed at highlighting exceptional discoveries and innovations.

The events kick off on Monday, April 21, with the Undergraduate Research Forum from noon to 4 p.m. at the Isadore and Sadie Dorin Forum. Concurrently, "Lighthouse: Computing at Argonne National Laboratory and UIC" will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Henley Ballroom at Student Center East.

On Tuesday, April 22, attendees can witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Center for Structural Biology located at 1100 S. Ashland Ave., scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wednesday's schedule includes Impact Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Illinois Room of Student Center East. Later that day, Chair Chats with Science Journals Editor-in-Chief Holden Thorp will occur from 3-4:30 p.m., with more details forthcoming. The evening concludes with the UIC Research and Scholarship Annual Awards ceremony at the Field Museum, an invitation-only event running from 6-9 p.m.

Thursday features several key events: David McComb will speak at an Institute for Functional and Regenerative Materials Seminar in Lecture Center D5 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.; there is also a Digital Mental Health Keynote and Panel scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Room 461 of the Westside Research Office Building; finally, a School of Public Health Research Centers Forum and Networking session takes place from 3-4:30 p.m. in Room 160 of the School of Public Health.

The week wraps up on Friday with two significant events: The Health Data Science Seed Grant Showcase runs from noon to 2 p.m. in Thompson Room C at Student Center West; concurrently, a School of Public Health Research Symposium is set for Room 160 in the School of Public Health between12:30-4 p.m.
