The Chicago Blackhawks have announced a trade involving defenseman Seth Jones and the Florida Panthers. The Blackhawks will receive goaltender Spencer Knight and a conditional 2026 first-round pick, while sending Jones and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Panthers. As part of the deal, Chicago will retain 26% of Jones’ salary.
Spencer Knight, 23, has played in 23 games with the Panthers during the current season, posting a record of 12-8-1. He holds a goals-against average of 2.40 and a .907 save percentage, along with two shutouts. His performance ranks him seventh among league netminders who have participated in at least 20 games this season. Since January 3rd, Knight has achieved a record of 6-2-0 with an improved goals-against average of 1.66 and a .937 save percentage.
Knight's career includes an overall record of 44-25-7 with five shutouts in 80 NHL games, all played for Florida. He was drafted by the Panthers in the first round (13th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft after spending two seasons at Boston College.
In international play, Knight helped Team USA secure gold at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships with standout performances that included three shutouts.
Seth Jones, aged 30, recorded seven goals and twenty assists over forty-two games this season for Chicago. Since joining the Blackhawks in July 2021, he has played in 259 regular-season games amassing thirty-two goals and one hundred fourteen assists.
Jones led all team defensemen in scoring this season and represented Chicago at the NHL All-Star Game in 2023.
