Federal research agencies pause communications until February

On January 21, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a memo halting all public communications from its divisions until February 1. This directive has resulted in the delay of certain study sections, advisory council meetings, and other related activities.

"We are actively working with our academic and government partners to understand how federal research policy changes, including recent executive orders, may affect our campus," stated an official communication. The statement emphasized ongoing monitoring for any further policy changes that could impact their institution.

Researchers are urged to remain patient with agency program managers, scientific review officers, and other federal personnel as adjustments are made in response to these changes. The communication also advised researchers to maintain focus on their work despite the evolving situation.

For those experiencing impacts or having questions regarding these developments, Karen McCormack, Executive Director of Sponsored Programs, is available for contact. "My office will continue to provide updates to our research community as details become available," assured the statement.
