Northwestern University addresses claims in Republican Staff Report

Northwestern University has issued a statement in response to a Republican Staff Report, emphasizing its commitment to combating all forms of discrimination and maintaining a safe environment for its community. The university asserts that "there is no place for antisemitism, Islamophobia, anti-Israeli or anti-Palestinian hate, or any form of identity-based discrimination or hate" on its campus.

The report revisits events discussed during a committee hearing last spring. Northwestern highlights the efforts made since then to enhance policies and procedures aimed at creating a safer learning environment. These efforts include strengthening the Student Code of Conduct and expanding educational resources.

The university supports President Schill's testimony before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce regarding past events on campus. It refutes allegations in the report about considering hiring an "anti-Zionist" rabbi or boycotting Israeli companies as "patently false."

Additionally, Northwestern objects to what it describes as unfair portrayals of its Provost and faculty members based on selective communications. The institution stands by these individuals and their contributions to resolving campus issues peacefully.

Northwestern reiterates its dedication to ensuring a non-discriminatory educational setting for all.
