Chicago Park District superintendent: 'We have the best deal in town for the whole family to play' this summer

The Chicago Park District is kicking off its summertime activities program, with registration getting underway beginning May 1.

According to The Official Website of the Chicago Park District, Summertime in the Parks begins Monday, June 26, and runs through Friday, Aug. 4. A list of programs offered is posted on the Park District website.

“We have the best deal in town for the whole family to play, learn new skills and collaborate with neighbors, making the parks the premier resource in Chicago for anyone looking to stay active within their communities,” Rosa Escareño, superintendent and CEO of the Chicago Park District, told the Park District website.

The Park District announced that it will offer an array of summer programs suitable for all ages and skill levels, from rock climbing and softball leagues to summer day camps, all tailored to the diverse interests of the Windy City community.

To register for the programs, residents can visit the Chicago Park District website or sign up in person. Regardless of how registration is done, participants must create an online account on the Park District's website.

Registration opened online at 9 a.m. May 1 for in-person programs held west of California Avenue, and registration started at 9 a.m. May 2 for programs at parks located east of California Avenue.

The Park District also started taking registration for gymnastics centers starting at noon on May 2.

According to The Official Website for the Chicago Park District, most day camps are geared toward children ages 6 to 12 and run from Monday, June 26, to Friday, Aug. 4. The "early start" day camps are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, and "late start" camps are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
