City Colleges of Chicago hosts first learning agenda symposium.

City Colleges of Chicago recently hosted its first learning agenda symposium at Malcolm X College featuring several series of discussions.

The symposium was centered around the topic of "Building Toward Equity in Higher Education." According to City Colleges, the conference consisted of numerous discussions with researchers, students and faculty. Other notable attendees, such as the under secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, were also in attendance.

Five years ago, the City Colleges of Chicago, under the leadership of Chancellor Juan Salgado, presented the first learning agenda for the district. As part of this initiative, City Colleges established research partnerships with a large number of other institutions. According to City Colleges of Chicago, the UChicago Inclusive Economy Lab, the UChicago Consortium on School Research, the American Institutes for Research, and a number of other institutions are participating in this ongoing collaboration.

City Colleges also has increased its collaboration with the student advocacy group One Million Degrees, which has resulted in more opportunities being made available to all students. 

According to City Colleges, the symposium sessions placed an emphasis on key findings from the researches and featured sessions such as: "Lessons from English Language Learners;" "Holistic Supports for Community College Students: A Randomized Controlled Trial of One Million Degrees;" "Bringing Research Findings to Scale;" and a number of other sessions.
