Larry R. Rogers Jr., a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law and the longest-serving commissioner on the Cook County Board of Review, has been elected to the Board of Trustees at Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech).
Rogers is an equity partner at Power Rogers, LLP, where he has represented clients in medical negligence, trucking and product liability, and civil rights litigation. His work has resulted in several multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements.
“It’s a great honor to join the Illinois Tech Board of Trustees,” said Rogers. “As a law student, Chicago-Kent prepared me to think critically, advocate boldly, and pursue justice with purpose and integrity. I’m excited to give back to an institution that helped shape my career and to support its mission of empowering students to drive meaningful change in a complex world.”
Since 2004, Rogers has served as senior commissioner for the third district on the Cook County Board of Review. He represents areas including Chicago’s South and West Sides and focuses on equitable property tax assessments, public service accessibility, and transparent government practices. He has also been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to committees such as the Supreme Court Rules Committee, Lawyers Trust Fund, and the Illinois Supreme Court Executive Committee.
“Illinois Tech is honored to welcome as distinguished an alumnus as Larry to the Board of Trustees,” said Illinois Tech President Raj Echambadi. “His distinguished career reflects the ethos of our law school: shaping the law, today. And his commitment to justice and civic leadership embodies Illinois Tech’s mission to empower students of all backgrounds to make a difference.”
Rogers’ recognitions include awards from legal organizations such as the Cook County Bar Association Presidential Award and Earl B. Dickerson Award from The Chicago Bar Association. He is also part of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group comprising top trial attorneys in the country.
“As a proud Illinois Tech alumnus, Larry Rogers embodies the excellence, integrity, and service that define our university,” said Michael P. Galvin (LAW ’78), chair of the Illinois Tech Board of Trustees. “His leadership in both the courtroom and his community stands as an inspiration to our students.”
Rogers holds a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Tech and a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Davis.
Illinois Institute of Technology is based in Chicago and offers degrees in engineering, computing, architecture, business, design, science and human sciences, and law.
