The Chicago Blackhawks have confirmed the acquisition of forward Sam Lafferty from the Buffalo Sabres. In return, the Sabres will receive a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Sam Lafferty, aged 30, concluded the 2024-25 season with seven points, comprising four goals and three assists over 60 games with the Sabres. He also delivered 89 hits last season, ranking him eighth among Buffalo players. Additionally, he achieved a faceoff win percentage of 50.6%, tying for fifth on his team and marking it as his third-highest career percentage.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, Lafferty has accumulated a total of 90 points through 40 goals and 50 assists across 349 regular-season games throughout his six-year NHL career. His journey includes tenures with Pittsburgh, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, and Buffalo. During his previous stint with Chicago between 2021 and 2023, Lafferty secured 32 points from 15 goals and 17 assists over the course of 97 games wearing a Blackhawks jersey. Furthermore, he has contributed three points in Stanley Cup Playoff matches while playing for teams such as the Penguins, Maple Leafs, and Canucks.
Originally from Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, Lafferty was drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round as the 113th overall pick during the 2014 NHL Draft.
