The Chicago Blackhawks have announced a trade deal with the Boston Bruins, acquiring defenseman Ryan Mast and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick. In return, the Blackhawks will send defenseman Victor Soderstrom to the Bruins.
Ryan Mast, aged 22, played 37 regular-season games with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League (AHL) during the 2024-25 season. He recorded five assists, achieving career highs in games played, assists, and points. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 221 pounds, Mast began his professional hockey career in the 2023-24 season. During that time, he participated in seven games with Providence and scored 16 points (5 goals and 11 assists) over 47 regular-season games with the Maine Mariners of the ECHL. Additionally, he appeared in seven postseason games for the Mariners.
Mast hails from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and was initially drafted by Boston as their sixth-round pick (181st overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Victor Soderstrom joined Chicago after being traded from Utah Hockey Club (Mammoth), along with forward Aku Raty and defenseman Shea Weber. This exchange took place on March 7, 2025, for Chicago's own fifth-round pick in the upcoming 2026 draft.
