UIC partners with Allied Universal for campus unarmed security services

Marie Lynn Miranda UIC Chancellor | University Of Illinois At Chicago

The university has taken significant steps to enhance its campus safety by finalizing a solicitation for unarmed security services. As part of this initiative, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services has introduced improved service standards and transparency. This move aims to offer more resources to the UIC Police Department, reinforcing the university's safety measures.

Commencing on May 1, the UIC Police Department has started to deploy staff from the new unarmed security provider, Allied Universal. These guards will be stationed at various posts throughout the campus. The transition from previous security providers is ongoing. Throughout this period, the police department is maintaining communication with different university units and departments. This is to ensure that the safety needs are assessed appropriately and that unarmed security guards are deployed strategically.

For any inquiries or further information about this transition, individuals are encouraged to contact Jason Huertas, the deputy chief of external operations at the UIC Police Department.
