Illinois Tech continues to see significant growth in its applications and admissions numbers, marking a four-year enrollment increase. Undergraduate applications have risen by 8 percent, with graduate applications increasing by 58 percent. At the same time, undergraduate admits have grown by 18 percent, and graduate admits have jumped by 66 percent compared to the previous year.
This upswing follows a 30 percent surge in undergraduate applications from the previous year, contributing to a four-year enrollment boom. Since 2021, Illinois Tech’s total enrollment has increased by 36 percent, far outpacing the national average for private, four-year non-profit universities.
Mallik Sundharam, Illinois Tech's vice president for enrollment management and student affairs, states: "Illinois Tech’s sustained momentum underscores our commitment to preparing students for success in a rapidly changing world.”
Notably, undergraduate applications have increased 48 percent over the past three years, and undergraduate admits have soared by 59 percent. The Stuart School of Business is leading this surge with a 245 percent rise in undergraduate applications, largely due to the Tech+ program that promotes interdisciplinary, career-focused degrees.
For the upcoming fall 2025 semester, applications for STEM and non-STEM programs continue to see rising interest. Illinois Tech’s overarching enrollment strategy emphasizes academic support, belonging, and career preparation across the college experience.
The “student-first” initiative, which includes the Elevate program and a unified advising model, integrates student success at every stage. Illinois Tech also places a strong emphasis on career readiness through hands-on learning and experiential education.
Recently named an “Opportunity College and University” by the Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education, Illinois Tech ranks highly for access and earnings outcomes, boasting the highest eight-year median earnings among Illinois institutions named ($77,282).
Sundharam comments on this achievement: “This important national recognition reaffirms what has been at the heart of Illinois Tech’s mission for more than 130 years: education as a true engine of opportunity.”
The university guarantees students exposure to real-world learning experiences through its Elevate program, emphasizing the development of career-ready skills from the outset of their education. Sundharam adds, “Illinois Tech is proud to champion a model of higher education that is accessible, transformative, and rooted in the real-world needs of today’s and tomorrow’s global economy.”
