Registration for UIC's student organizations open for 2025-26 academic year

Karen Colley Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs | University Of Illinois At Chicago

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) encourages student involvement through its extensive network of registered student organizations. Each year, over 470 student groups allow participants to engage with peers across diverse fields and backgrounds, fostering community and enhancing career readiness.

The registration period for student organizations for the 2025-26 academic year is open from April 1 to May 31. The Center for Student Involvement at UIC urges both returning and new organizations to complete their registrations by the fall.

Guidance has been provided to ensure a smooth registration process. Outgoing officers are advised to secure their organization's continued success. Incoming officers are encouraged to prioritize registration efforts. Advisors are reminded to confirm that their groups have finished the necessary steps, while members should check that their organizations are set for the upcoming year by registering.

The registration procedure has been revised to improve efficiency. The first step involves an intake form available on UIC Connection. Registration is now split into two components: one for the organization itself, and one for the organization's officers. Once registered, organizations maintain active status for four years, with an option for a two-year extension. Organizations that do not need to alter their constitution can benefit from an expedited process.

To view the complete list of registration changes and to start the organization registration process, students can visit the designated student organization registration webpage.

"Each year, students from various colleges, majors, disciplines, cultures and walks of life join UIC’s 470-plus registered student organizations on campus," noted Joy Vergara, MEd, Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Engagement, and Allen Womble, PhD, Director of the Center for Student Involvement.
