UIC begins 2025 Staff Merit Award nominations

April marks the beginning of the 2025 nomination season for the Staff Merit Awards at UIC. Staff members are encouraged to nominate deserving colleagues for one of several distinguished awards.

The "Award of Merit" honors outstanding academic professional and civil service employees university-wide. This year, 31 recipients will receive $3,000 and a memento gift.

The "Chancellor’s Academic Professional Award" highlights the excellence of academic professionals, with up to 10 recipients receiving a $1,000 permanent salary increase, a $2,500 one-time award, and a memento.

The "Janice Watkins Award" pays tribute to civil service employees who demonstrate distinguished service. Five civil service employees may receive this award, which includes a $2,000 monetary reward and a memento.

The "Rising Star Award" is for academic professionals early in their careers, indicating potential for exemplary future contributions. Up to three candidates will be recognized, each receiving $1,500 and a memento.

The deadline for nominations is June 2, 2025. Information on nomination forms, procedures, and eligibility is available.

Award recipients will be honored at the Employee Recognition Award Ceremony on Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Isadore and Sadie Dorin Forum.
