University of Illinois extends Karen Colley's term as provost

Karen Colley, PhD, will continue her role as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) for an additional year. This extension, approved by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees last week, extends her term through June 2026.

Provost Colley has been a part of UIC for over 30 years. Her extensive institutional knowledge and leadership in academic affairs have been acknowledged by many within the university. Her dedication to student success and efforts to expand access and improve outcomes for all UIC students are well recognized.

Colley's team has played a significant role in overseeing UIC's reaccreditation with the Higher Learning Commission and launching the UIC Aspire program. She is also noted for advancing the quality of UIC's academic programs and her contributions to glycobiology.

Her continued leadership is appreciated by many at UIC, where she is seen as a critical partner in advancing the university's mission.
