UIC offers expanded transit options with Spring 2025 U-PASS+ program

UIC students have the opportunity to enhance their commuting options this spring by opting into the U-PASS+ program, which includes Metra Rail. This addition allows for unlimited rides on any line except the Southshore line, expanding access throughout the Chicagoland area.

For those interested in adding Metra Rail to their U-PASS, further details are available at go.uic.edu/UPASSplus. The U-PASS and U-PASS+ programs are open to all students enrolled in at least six credit hours for Spring 2025.

The activation period for these passes runs from January 8 to May 14, 2025. However, different dates apply for specific colleges: January 1 to April 30 for the College of Medicine and January 1 to May 7 for the College of Dentistry. Students must opt in by February 13 at 11:59 p.m., as changes cannot be made after February 2.

Students dropping below six credit hours before the add/drop deadline will have their U-PASS deactivated. Those who opt in but do not meet the credit hour requirement will not be eligible and will not incur a fee.

The fees for Spring 2025 are set at $163 for most students using only CTA services, with a higher rate of $175 for those in the College of Medicine. For those opting into both CTA and Metra services through U-PASS+, fees are $349 and $366 respectively.

Students are encouraged to verify their opt-in status at go.uic.edu/spring_upass. Existing policies regarding lost or replacement cards remain unchanged.
