The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services at the University of Illinois Chicago will maintain operations during the holiday season, though some departments will have reduced staffing. Facilities Management and Utilities and Energy Services will remain operational around the clock. Service requests can be submitted via FMweb or by calling 312-996-7511.
UIC Police will provide continuous safety and security services on campus. They can be contacted at 312-355-5555 for both emergencies and non-emergencies.
The Environmental Health and Safety Office will be available during the holidays, with assistance reachable at 312-996-SAFE.
Parking Services' courtesy assistance, including vehicle lockout access, battery charges, tire inflation, fuel assistance, and vehicle location service in garages, will also be available throughout the holiday period. The full holiday schedule for Parking Services is accessible online.
The Student Center East customer service offices are scheduled to close from December 22 to January 5, reopening on January 6 at 8 a.m. The Wood Street Parking Structure customer service office will not operate on December 24, 25, and January 1 but will open from December 23 to December 31 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Transportation buses and shuttles are set to continue normal operations. The Semester Express bus is expected to resume with the commencement of spring semester classes.
Effective December 11, academic buildings require an i-card for access. Buildings housing unit or department offices are open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., while starting December 23 all campus buildings necessitate i-cards for entry until normal access resumes on January 13 with the start of the spring semester.
Before leaving for winter break, faculty and staff are reminded to turn off lights and unplug electronic devices where possible to conserve energy and reduce fire hazards. For guidance on whether specific devices can be unplugged safely, it is advised to consult IT staff or a UIC Technology Solutions representative.
