UIC expands transit options with new U-PASS+ including Metra Rail

UIC students now have the option to include Metra Rail in their U-PASS through the U-PASS+ program. This addition provides unlimited rides on all lines, except for the Southshore line, granting students extensive access to the Chicagoland area.

The U-PASS and U-PASS+ are available for students enrolled in six or more credit hours for spring 2025. The passes will be active from January 7 to May 30, 2025, with specific dates for the College of Medicine and the College of Dentistry.

Students must opt-in by February 13 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Changes cannot be made after February 2, and exceptions for missing this deadline will not be granted. Students dropping below six credit hours before the add/drop deadline will have their pass deactivated.

Fees for spring 2025 are set at $163 for the standard CTA U-PASS and $349 for the U-PASS+, with higher fees applicable to College of Medicine students.

Students are advised to verify their status on the U-PASS webpage and adhere to existing policies regarding lost or replacement cards.

For more information or to add Metra Rail, visit the U-PASS+ webpage.
