The owner of Two Fish Crab Shack is planning a $9 million expansion.
Owner Yasmin Curtis has ambitious goals for the expansion of her business. Two Fish Crab Shack is a well-known seafood boil restaurant in the Bronzeville neighborhood at its current location, 641 E. 47th St. According to What Now Chicago, the expansion of the restaurant will take place on an adjacent vacant lot in the neighborhood.
Since it first opened in 2016, the restaurant has become an indispensable part of the community. In addition to offering seafood boils by the bag, they also offer other customer favorites like fried fish baskets, sandwiches and gumbo on their menu. In addition to that, they are famous for their Two Fish sauces, which come in a variety of flavors such as the 3 The Chi-Way, Garlic Butter, Lemon Pepper, Cajun and Jerk.
According to World Business Chicago, during the pandemic, many restaurants were forced to close their doors, so Curtis came up with the idea of selling frozen bags of Two Fish To-Go to her customers in the freezer sections of grocery stores.
What Now Chicago reports that the new expansion is expected to take place in 2025 and will have a total cost of approximately $9 million by that time. The expansion of the restaurant space, the addition of new dining options on the rooftop and sidewalk, and the construction of residential units (condos or apartments) on the restaurant's upper floors are all part of the plans.
