Those who conduct business with the village of Tinley Park might notice a few new faces, after the village has recently announced three new hires.
One of the new employees, Kelly Sciaky, will be the Public Works Department’s service representative, and she is the one the public will have the most likelihood of meeting.
“I would just like to thank everybody for the opportunity to work for the village of Tinley Park,” Sciaky said during a recent board meeting uploaded to YouTube. “And I look forward to working for all of the residents here.”
Mayor Michael Glotz appointed her, saying she brings 17 years of customer service experience to the position, adding that she is used to assisting customer requests and “intends to be a cheerful face” in the village.
Maria Janik is another newcomer, who was selected by the mayor to fill a full-time custodial position in the village. Janik, who has been working in custodial services for more than 30 years, has cleaned for residential customers, commercial customers, hospitals and corporate offices. She comes to Tinley Park highly recommended.
The other new hire is Michael Whalen, who is serving as the village's associate planner. He began his career as a planner seven years ago at the largest park district in the country, doing governmental planning in Florida. He has a bachelor's degree in urban and public affairs and is currently pursuing a master's degree.
