Midlothian Village Council heard an update from the Events Committee during a recent meeting, with Trustee Kathleen Johnson pointing out that the panel homes to stage four to six events throughout the year.
Johnson noted during the meeting, streamed on YouTube, that the Events Committee has a budget of $1,500, with $1,200 left to spend. She also noted during the session that amid increased interest in the meetings, the committee is slated to meet on the second Tuesday of each month in 2023 at 5:30 p.m., and are seeking volunteers to help plan and manage events.
“And then we’re open for other ideas,” Johnson added during the session. “So please email me, call me, let me know your ideas. These are events for the village, for the residents, for people in the community. We have nothing in stone but we hope to have four to six events throughout the year.”
Moreover, the session, Johnson also offered a breakdown of accounting for Oktoberfest to highlight their earnings and expenses at their most recent meeting, noting that the event turned a profit of about $300.
With the $1,200 surplus on hand, Johnson noted that the committee also talked about the future of events in the village.
Some of the events under consideration for 2023 include a craft and car show in June or July, a spring Midlothian 5k run, Halloween decorating contest, a senior prom in May, according to the stream.
