Tinley Park police chief on promoted employee at recent board meeting: 'We're happy to bring her onboard full time'

The Tinley Park Village Board of Trustees approved two promotions and the hiring of a new maintenance technician during a board meeting on Nov. 1.

Lynn Fell was one employee who received a promotion. Fell started working for the Tinley Park Police Department at the beginning of the year, and took on a new role as police clerk matron as of Nov. 7.

"Since she's been here, she quickly grasped all aspects of the job and (has) done a great job for us, so we're happy to bring her onboard full time," Police Chief Matthew Walsh said during the meeting

The board approved Fell's promotion since she demonstrated self-assurance, skill, qualifications and interest in the position while she was working part time.

During the meeting, Zack Tatar was also appointed as a maintenance technician for the city's streets division. Tatar first started working for public works in the spring of 2021. He has a Class B CDL. Tatar demonstrated proficiency with heavy machinery and street-related operational duties. He began his new job on Nov. 14.

Julio Ayala joined the city's water department as a maintenance technician. Ayala has more than two decades of expertise in plumbing and building with five spent working in municipalities. He is knowledgeable with all aspects of water mains. He started working for Tinley Park on Nov. 7.
