Pekau on Orland Park holiday festivities starting Nov. 27: "Coming together as a community to welcome the holiday season is a long-standing tradition in Orland Park"

Holiday festivities in Orland Park began Nov. 27 with the annual holiday festival, parade and tree lighting.

The Village of Orland Park officially welcomed the holiday at the Orland Park Village Center, 14700 S. Ravinia Ave., with a holiday parade. The parade traveled down Ravinia Avenue from 151st Street to the official Village Christmas Tree at Village Hall.

“Coming together as a community to welcome the holiday season is a long-standing tradition in Orland Park,” Mayor Keith Pekau said in a press release. “I look forward to spending the festive occasion with residents again this year as we gather to celebrate the season.”

The official lighting of the Christmas Tree in the Village Circle outside of Village Hall also featured live entertainment, lighted decor on the village lawn and a visit from Santa. The holiday market will be back again with delicious foods, hot chocolate, and winter holiday-themed products for sale.

Other holiday activities include Orland Park Children's Theatre production of Fixing Christmas on Dec. 16, 17 and 18, Santa's Pit Stop at Sportsplex on Dec. 10, and The Lions Club will be selling Christmas trees and wreaths daily.
