Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), Choose Chicago, ABC7, and Dick Clark Productions announced that Chance the Rapper will perform during Chicago’s segment of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026.” The broadcast, which will also be hosted by Chance the Rapper, marks the first time Chicago is featured as the program's Central Time zone location.
The event aims to showcase Chicago's musical heritage with a lineup representing genres from blues to house music. DJ Mike Dunn, a member of Chosen Few DJs and producer, will start the night’s entertainment. DJ Mike P will play throughout the evening. J. Ivy, who has received GRAMMY, Peabody, and NAACP Image Awards for his poetry and artistry, is scheduled to perform as well. Blues vocalist Shemekia Copeland will appear before Chance the Rapper headlines with a countdown performance at midnight.
The celebrations are set along the Chicago Riverwalk at Wacker Drive between Wells Street and Lake Street. The main stage will be located at Wacker and Franklin. Prior to live performances, ART on THE MART will present an audio/visual projection from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., after which THE MART building becomes part of the visual backdrop for the countdown while fireworks are launched from nearby bridges.
Further details about programming and public participation opportunities are expected in coming weeks on chicago.gov/NYE. “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2026” airs Wednesday, Dec. 31 live on ABC starting at 7 p.m. CST and will be available next day on Hulu.
