The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is marking Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day in 2025 by highlighting its history and ongoing role in the business community. Founded in 1904 during a period of significant growth for Chicago, the organization began as a champion for local businesses and aimed to support economic development.
In 1992, the group changed its name from the Association of Commerce and Industry to better reflect its regional reach and continued dedication to economic progress. The Chamber now represents over 1,000 businesses that collectively employ more than 400,000 people across various sectors.
According to the organization, "Through connections, advocacy, and thought leadership, the Chamber empowers its members to grow, collaborate, and lead." The Chamber states it continues to provide value to its members by fostering a dynamic environment for business and contributing to making Chicagoland a place where people want to live and work.
As part of Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day, which is observed nationwide each year, the Chicagoland Chamber joins other chambers in recognizing their contributions. The organization notes: "For more than a century, the Chicagoland Chamber has proudly served as the voice of Chicago’s business community—and remains committed to advancing its success for generations to come."
