Navy Pier in Chicago is offering a variety of Halloween-themed events throughout October, catering to different age groups and interests. The lineup includes both family-friendly activities and more intense experiences for those seeking scares.
One of the main events, “Slightly Spooky,” will take place on October 25 from noon to 6 p.m. This free event transforms Navy Pier into a space with interactive activities, live entertainment, and treats suitable for all ages. Families can participate in science experiments, meet costumed superheroes, get airbrush tattoos, watch a dog costume contest, and have chances to win prizes related to the Flyover experience.
On October 18, Navy Pier will host “We Love Yacht Rock,” which celebrates music from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The event features DJ sets playing soft rock classics, a vintage vendor market, family activities, photo opportunities, and participation from local restaurants such as Harry Caray’s Tavern and Margaritaville.
The Chicago Children’s Museum is also participating with its “Take Care with Peanuts” exhibit running through January 4. Families can interact with characters from Charles Schultz’s Peanuts comic strip and take photos themed around “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”
Chicago Shakespeare Theater is presenting the play “Paranormal Activity” from October 8 to November 2. The play follows a couple who move to London to escape their past and is based on the film franchise of the same name. Special showings are scheduled for Halloween night at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., featuring specialty cocktails and prizes.
Another theater-related event is Paranormal Prom on October 9 at 5:30 p.m., described as "the ultimate Halloween haunting." Attendees can enter a costume contest for prizes, enjoy food from Harry Caray’s Tavern, participate in lobby activities related to the occult, and shop at horror-themed vendor booths.
Harry Caray’s Tavern offers two events: Park, Tailgate & Sail on October 19 provides an all-you-can-eat buffet before guests take water taxis to Soldier Field; Slightly Spooky Saturday x PAWS Chicago on October 25 supports animal welfare through proceeds benefiting PAWS Chicago with face painting contests and Oktoberfest fare.
Margaritaville hosts Wasted Away in Margaritaville on October 30—a tropical-themed graveyard party featuring a DJ set, costume contest with giveaways, signature cocktails, and themed decorations.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October at Margaritaville, pink versions of Key Lime Pie desserts are available along with themed t-shirts. Proceeds go toward Jimmy Buffet's charity Singing for Change as well as other breast cancer organizations.
“Navy Pier has something for everyone this spooky season,” according to organizers.
