Blackhawks trim training camp roster to 31 after player assignments

The Chicago Blackhawks announced on September 29, 2025, that they have reduced their training camp roster to 31 players. The team made several assignments as part of this process.

Goaltender Drew Commesso, defenseman Ashton Cumby, forwards Nick Lardis and Samuel Savoie, as well as forward Aidan Thompson, were assigned to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). Forward AJ Spellacy was assigned to the Windsor Spitfires in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Goaltender Mitchell Weeks was released from his professional tryout and also assigned to Rockford.

Following these transactions, the Blackhawks' training camp roster consists of 17 forwards, 11 defensemen and three goaltenders.
