The Chicago Blackhawks have announced a four-year contract extension with forward Ryan Donato, which will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season. The deal carries a salary cap hit of $4 million.

"Ryan brings energy and competes hard every game which has been a huge asset to our team over the last two seasons," said Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson. "He’s been a crucial part of our offense, and we’re excited for Ryan to continue to make a difference in our lineup for the next four years."

During the 2024-25 season, Donato played in 80 games and achieved career highs in several categories including goals (31), assists (31), points (62), power play goals (5), and game-winning goals (3). He led the team with 31 goals, was second in points with 62, and third in assists with 31. Additionally, he ranked third on the team with 104 hits. Notably, he recorded a career-high four points against Nashville in February, marking his 200th NHL point.

Donato, originally from Boston, Massachusetts, has accumulated 227 points across his NHL career spanning five teams: Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, and Chicago Blackhawks. His playoff experience includes three appearances where he contributed two assists over 19 games.

The forward was initially drafted by the Bruins as the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
