UIC announces new measures for protection of minors

Units at the university are reminded of their responsibility to ensure that adults supervising minors have completed necessary background checks. This includes a criminal background check and a sex offender registry check within the past two years. These checks are mandatory for participation in any university program or activity involving minors who are not enrolled or accepted for enrollment.

Additionally, units must report programs or activities involving non-enrolled minors to the UIC Protection of Minors Office. A new electronic form, the Protection of Minors Event form, has been introduced to streamline this process.

As summer sessions begin, it is recommended that individuals review the video titled "Protecting Minors on Campus." For questions, contact Joanna Wolek, UIC Protection of Minors Coordinator, at uicpom@uic.edu or visit the Protection of Minors webpage.
