UIC reiterates commitment to drug-free campus environment

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment for students and employees. This announcement aligns with federal guidelines requiring the dissemination of information about the UIC Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy each semester.

The policy, developed in accordance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989, outlines health risks and legal sanctions related to alcohol and other drugs. It also details university standards of conduct and disciplinary actions for policy violations. Furthermore, it provides resources for addressing drug or alcohol-related issues within both university and community settings.

"The policy represents the university’s continued commitment to creating a healthy learning and work environment," stated Michael Ginsburg, PhD, Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Student Affairs. He encouraged all individuals at UIC to familiarize themselves with this important document.

Employees are advised to review the University Statement on a Drug-Free Workplace as part of this initiative. For inquiries, students can reach out to the Office of the Dean of Students at 312-996-4857, while employees may contact UIC Human Resources at 312-996-0840.
