Sheriff’s Police to hold traffic safety checkpoint in Morton Grove on May 9

Cook County Sheriff’s Police will perform a roadside safety checkpoint in Morton Grove, as announced by Sheriff Thomas J. Dart. The operation will take place on May 9, in collaboration with the Morton Grove Police Department, near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Dempster Street.

This measure aims to ensure drivers comply with Illinois's driver’s license and registration requirements, and adhere to the state’s seat belt and child restraint laws. Officers will also monitor for impaired driving.

The primary goals of these checkpoints are to highlight the importance of roadway safety, increase seat belt usage, promote safe travel, and reduce vehicle crashes in Cook County.

Funding for the checkpoint comes from a grant by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
