Chicagoland Chamber reacts to Senator Durbin's retirement decision

The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce has responded to Senator Dick Durbin's announcement that he will not seek reelection. Jack Lavin, President and CEO of the Chamber, expressed his congratulations to Durbin on his career in public service and highlighted their shared efforts to boost economic opportunities in Illinois.

Lavin stated, “I want to express my sincere congratulations to Senator Dick Durbin on his historic career of public service. I have had the privilege of knowing Senator Durbin personally for many years and worked directly with him to create jobs and economic opportunity throughout our state."

He went on to commend Durbin's leadership and advocacy for Illinois businesses in Washington, noting, "It has been an honor to witness his steadfast leadership and powerful voice for Illinois businesses in Washington, advocating tirelessly for policies that drive growth, innovation, and opportunity."

The statement concluded with Lavin thanking Durbin for his commitment to public service and wishing him and his family the best in the future: "On behalf of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, I want to thank Senator Durbin for his unwavering dedication to public service and to the people of Illinois. We wish him, his wife Loretta, and the entire Durbin family all the best as they embark on this new chapter.”
