The Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce PAC hosted its 9th Annual PAC Advocacy Champion Award Reception on April 16. This event aimed to highlight the importance of pro-business advocacy, bringing together civic leaders, elected officials, and business influencers. A significant moment of the evening was the presentation of the 2025 Advocacy Champion Award to Jay Stieber, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Lettuce.
The event is a key fundraiser for the chamber's PAC, which endorses candidates and policies promoting regional economic growth and business development. However, the reception also serves to honor individuals who play a pivotal role in shaping Chicago’s hospitality and business environment.
“Jay is someone who has never shied away from doing what’s right, even when it’s not what’s easy,” said Jack Lavin, President & CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, during his opening speech. “We are incredibly grateful for your insight, your dedication, and your courage. You are a true champion for our business community, and your leadership has made a real, tangible difference.”
Stieber's association with Lettuce started in 1995, bringing comprehensive expertise in legal and strategic fields. As one of the company’s Executive Partners, Stieber “spends the majority of his time dealing with issues involving strategic and tax planning, real estate, bank relations, investor relations, and other legal matters. He has negotiated and been instrumental in most of Lettuce’s projects.”
Beyond his role in the restaurant group, Stieber has contributed significantly to various business initiatives. He co-founded the Illinois Restaurant Association, served as the first Chairman, and continues to be active in various board positions.
Jay Stieber has consistently been an advocate for pragmatic business regulations and growth-oriented policies across multiple levels of government. “In recent years, as we continue to be confronted with a number of anti-business policies from City Hall, Jay has been a leader in advocating against some of the most pressing issues we’ve faced,” added Lavin.
In recognition of his enduring service, leadership on challenging issues, and steadfast belief in the potential of Chicago’s business community, Jay Stieber was honored with the 2025 Advocacy Champion Award—a title that reflects his significant contributions.
