Richard J. Daley College marked its 65th anniversary on Thursday, April 10, 2025, with an event attended by students, faculty, staff, community partners, and elected officials. Celebrations featured performances by the Chicago State University Marching Band, a panel discussion, and speeches by City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Juan Salgado, Daley College President Janine Janosky, and Cook County Commissioner John P. Daley.
President Janine Janosky reflected on the milestone, stating, “It has been an incredible joy to learn the history of Richard J. Daley College and be of service to the community.” Commissioner John P. Daley, son of the college's namesake, expressed gratitude, saying, “President Janosky, you’ve have had a great commitment to the students and, on behalf of my family and myself, I thank you.”
Daley College was originally established as William J. Bogan Junior College in 1960 within the William J. Bogan High School, both located in the Ashburn neighborhood. In 1970, the college relocated to an interim campus at 7500 S. Pulaski Road in the West Lawn neighborhood, with the current campus completed in 1981. The college was renamed Richard J. Daley College in 1976 following the death of the former mayor Richard J. Daley.
