The Chicago Blackhawks have announced agreements with forward Oliver Moore and defenseman Sam Rinzel on three-year entry-level contracts. Both contracts will run through the 2026-27 season with a salary cap hit of $950,000.
Oliver Moore, at 20 years old, concluded his sophomore season at the University of Minnesota (NCAA) with 33 points, comprising 12 goals and 21 assists across 38 games. Moore served as an alternate captain, ranked fourth on the team in points, and shared fifth in goals with 12, marking a new high in his collegiate career. Moore has accumulated 66 points in 76 games throughout his NCAA career. Originally from Mounds View, Minn., he was drafted 19th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Draft. Internationally, Moore has won gold medals with Team USA at the 2024 and 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships and the 2023 IIHF World U18 Championship.
Similarly, 20-year-old Sam Rinzel achieved collegiate career highs with 10 goals, 31 points, and two game-winning goals during the 2024-25 season with the University of Minnesota. His totals placed him sixth in points among all NCAA defensemen, and he earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-Big Ten First Team honors. Rinzel, a native of Chanhassen, Minn., compiled 60 points in 79 games while in college. Drafted 25th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Draft, Rinzel also secured a gold medal with Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships.
