University of Chicago opens submissions for 2025 Science as Art contest

The University of Chicago is inviting its community members to participate in the fourth annual Science as Art contest. The competition aims to showcase the beauty found within scientific research through images captured during simulations, under microscopes, or through photography.

Participants are encouraged to submit original images that have emerged from their research affiliated with the university. The submissions should not be created using AI image generation tools and must not involve patient data or samples.

Winners of the contest will receive a cash prize and recognition across various platforms. The top entry will earn $300 along with a framed print of their winning image. Additionally, a "fan favorite" selected by public votes on UChicago’s social media channels will receive $150. All submitted images will be displayed on UChicago's main website, intranet, social media, and in exhibitions around campus.

The contest accepts multiple entries per participant in any common image format, though TIFFs are preferred for their quality. Images should be submitted at the highest possible resolution.

Submissions for this year's contest must be made by Friday, March 14. For those interested in participating or seeking further information, inquiries can be directed to contest@uchicago.edu.
