The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is calling for proposals for sustainability projects as part of its Sustainability Fund initiative. This fund, driven by students, aims to lessen UIC's environmental footprint and aligns with the university's climate commitments: achieving carbon neutrality, zero waste, net-zero water usage, biodiversity enhancement, and transformative scholarship.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit project proposals that support these sustainability goals. Proposals should demonstrate significant student involvement or leadership and align with the Climate Commitment Action Plan 2024.
Proposals requesting less than $5,000 can be submitted anytime on a rolling basis. For projects seeking more than $5,000 in funding, an initial letter of inquiry must be submitted by Friday, March 7. The Sustainability Fund Advisory Board will review these letters and invite selected applicants to submit final proposals by Friday, April 4.
Interested parties can discuss their project ideas before submitting a letter of inquiry by contacting sustainability@uic.edu.
"We look forward to receiving passionate and creative ideas from UIC students, faculty and staff as we work together to achieve the university’s sustainability goals."
