The Chicago Blackhawks have announced a trade involving forward Taylor Hall to the Carolina Hurricanes. In return, the Blackhawks will receive a third-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft. As part of the deal, Chicago will retain 50 percent of Mikko Rantanen’s salary cap hit.
With this acquisition, the Blackhawks now hold nine selections in the upcoming draft. Their picks include two first-round, two second-round, one third-round, two fourth-round, one fifth-round, and one sixth-round choices.
Taylor Hall, aged 33, has contributed 24 points this season with nine goals and 15 assists over 46 games for Chicago. His performance places him fourth on the team for assists and fifth for total points. During his tenure with the Blackhawks spanning two seasons, Hall accumulated 28 points in 56 regular-season games but missed significant time due to an ACL injury during the 2023-24 season.
Throughout his career in the NHL, Hall has played for several teams including Edmonton, New Jersey, Arizona, Buffalo, Boston, and Chicago. He has achieved a total of 721 points across 878 regular-season games.
Originally from Calgary and standing at six feet one inch tall with a weight of 210 pounds, Hall was drafted first overall by Edmonton in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
"Best of luck in the future Taylor!" tweeted by Chicago Blackhawks on January 25th reflects their farewell message to Hall as he transitions to his new team.
