Alderman Monique Scott expressed gratitude to the community and sponsors for their participation in the 5th Annual Light Up Lawndale "Christmas Cheer Edition" held in Douglass Park on December 7. Scott shared her appreciation through a Facebook post.
Amazon contributed lights and decorations to illuminate Douglass Park, where community members gathered for festivities that included refreshments and music.
Scott said, "Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Tree Lighting on the Boulevard this past weekend." She added, "Neighbors came together to sip hot cocoa, enjoy food, pick up toys, and experience NASCAR, made possible through the support of our partners."
According to Princess Shaw, founder and executive director of Light Up Lawndale, "People will be able to enjoy and embrace their community in a different type of light" at the event.
