UIC starts construction on Grenshaw Street Parking Structure in January

The University of Illinois Board of Trustees has approved a plan for the construction of the Grenshaw Street Parking Structure at UIC. This new facility, located west of the Wood Street Parking Structure, will provide approximately 1,000 additional parking spaces for staff and visitors on the west side of campus.

Construction is set to commence on Monday, January 6, with initial activities including the installation of construction fencing around the site. The project necessitates the permanent closure of lots B4 and C4, prompting a reassignment of parking spots for those impacted.

Lot J will also be closed and repurposed as valet parking for UI Health. Users currently assigned to this lot will be relocated based on their parking seniority. Those affected by these changes will receive an email later today detailing their new parking assignments.

The completion date for this new parking structure is projected for August 2026.

For any inquiries or further information regarding parking reassignments, individuals are encouraged to contact via email at parking@uic.edu.

"Thank you for your cooperation as work begins on this important project," stated John Coronado, Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services. Nick Haubach, Chief Administrative Officer at UI Health, also signed off on the communication.
