Amazon celebrated for inclusive technology at Oscar Mike Foundation impact awards

Amazon Inc. and divisions was recognized for efforts in its Inclusive Devices by veterans non-profit Oscar Mike Foundation during their impact awards ceremony.

Amazon, Prime Air, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) participated in the inaugural Impact Awards hosted by the Oscar Mike Foundation (OMF) on Friday, November 8. The event recognized the contributions of organizations supporting disabled veterans. Amazon was represented by leaders from the Warriors@Amazon Employee Resource Group, which helped celebrate OMF's mission.

OMF marked its 13th anniversary on Veterans Day, November 11, and honored companies, nonprofits, and partners that support disabled veterans with innovative products, services, and networks. Amazon was acknowledged for its commitment to inclusivity and technological advancements, particularly through its annual grants and partnerships with Chicago Rockford International Airport.

During the event, Amazon received an award for its Inclusive Devices, recognizing its contributions to the development of assistive technologies. These innovations include prosthetics, screen readers, navigation aids, and adaptive software, which improve independence and functionality for users with disabilities.

Amazon's Selling Partner Services (SPS) also supports sellers of all sizes, from small businesses to large corporations. SPS provides tools and services to help sellers grow and succeed. In 2023, U.S.-based sellers sold over 4.5 billion items, with most of those sellers being small and medium-sized businesses. These independent sellers contribute to more than 60% of sales on Amazon, with an average of 8,600 items sold per minute and annual sales surpassing $250,000.

The Oscar Mike Foundation is focused on removing barriers for individuals with disabilities, particularly veterans. The foundation promotes independence and resilience through adaptive content, programs, and facilities designed to enhance accessibility and awareness.
