According to Amazon's Community Impact Reports, the company has committed $3.6 billion to create or preserve 35,000 affordable homes, impacting over 46,000 residents across various regions. Additionally, Amazon has delivered over 34 million meals to families through its Community Delivery program, addressing food security in its hometown communities. Through the Amazon Housing Equity Fund, the company has provided $2.2 billion in loans and grants and plans to expand its commitment by $1.4 billion for 14,000 additional homes in 2024.
The Economic Impact Report from Amazon states that since 2010, the company has invested $28 billion in Illinois, contributing significantly to the state's infrastructure and employee compensation. These investments have reportedly improved Illinois' GDP by $31 billion and created 40,000 full- and part-time jobs as of January 2023. Furthermore, Amazon supports an additional 50,600 indirect jobs based on the Input-Output methodology developed by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The company partners with over 15,000 independent sellers, primarily small and medium-sized businesses.
