Rich Klein has been appointed as the new dean of the Stuart School of Business at Illinois Institute of Technology, starting January 1, 2025. Klein is recognized for his leadership in data-informed strategies and technological innovation aimed at enhancing student success. He comes to Illinois Tech from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), where he was vice chancellor of institutional effectiveness and student success.
Klein expressed his enthusiasm for joining Illinois Tech: “I am incredibly honored and excited to join Illinois Tech as the dean of Stuart School of Business.” He emphasized the challenges faced by higher education today and expressed eagerness to contribute to Stuart’s pioneering approach in providing quality education that prepares students for current and future demands.
The Stuart School of Business recently partnered with Coursera to offer a tech-focused M.B.A. program, contributing to a 73 percent increase in enrollment since last year. This reflects growing interest in programs that integrate business with technology.
Illinois Tech Provost Kenneth T. Christensen commented on Klein’s appointment: “Rich Klein’s appointment is a critical step forward for Stuart School of Business.” He noted that Klein's understanding of data-informed strategies will help deliver innovative learning experiences that ensure student success beyond graduation.
Before his tenure at UNO, Klein held positions at Florida International University’s College of Business and has over ten years of industry experience with companies such as Automatic Data Processing and First Data Corporation. His academic credentials include a doctorate in computer information systems from Georgia State University.
