A Chicago resident, Tervon Moore, is facing serious charges following an investigation by the Sheriff's Police. The investigation revealed that Moore allegedly trafficked a 16-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Woodford County.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations alerted the Sheriff's Police Special Victims Unit on September 25th after discovering images of the missing teenager on websites Megapersonals and Skipthegames. An undercover investigator arranged a meeting with the victim at a motel in Cicero on Friday afternoon. Upon her arrival, authorities recovered the victim and apprehended Moore.
The teenager was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Investigators found evidence suggesting that Moore had coerced her into sex work, posted advertisements online, arranged meetings with clients, and collected payments, keeping half for himself.
On Saturday, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Moore with Class X Involuntary Servitude of a Minor under 17, Class 1 Trafficking for Labor/Benefits, and Class 1 Trafficking for Labor/Recruits. At his initial court appearance at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, Moore was ordered to remain in custody at Cook County Jail pending trial.
Authorities remind the public that "the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
