Chicago-Kent College of Law has announced that Associate Clinical Professor Jamie Franklin has been appointed as an academic fellow of the National Civil Justice Institute. Franklin joined the faculty in August 2020 and serves as a supervising attorney for the C-K Law Group’s Civil Litigation Clinic. Her expertise spans employment discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour law, qui tam litigation, class actions, and other complex litigation for plaintiffs.
Franklin expressed her gratitude for the honor, joining 80 academics nationwide selected to inform the institute on legal trends and engage with courts and law schools across the country. She follows in the footsteps of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Richard W. Wright and Professor Nancy S. Marder, who are also fellows.
The National Civil Justice Institute is a think tank established by trial bar pioneers aimed at ensuring justice access for ordinary citizens. The institute provides balanced perspectives on issues affecting the U.S. civil justice system through its initiatives involving lawyers, judges, legal educators, and the public.
Before joining Chicago-Kent College of Law, Franklin ran her own firm from 2011 to 2020 in Chicago, focusing on providing top-tier legal representation to historically disadvantaged individuals in legal matters.
Currently, Franklin is involved in high-profile cases including representing a female professor dismissed by Moody Bible Institute—potentially reaching the U.S. Supreme Court—and participating in a class-action lawsuit against United Airlines regarding retirement policies.
